Mark your calendars because St Helena Hospice's Colchester Community Fun Day returns on Saturday 1st August 2026 at Mile End Sports Ground!

This August, join us for a fun-filled day with your friends and family! Expect an inflatable village including bouncy castles, ice cream vans, licensed bar, exciting games, a variety of food stalls and sweet treats, face painting, entertainment, a Classic Car Show and everything else you'd want from a fantastic summer fete – plus the return of the Fun Day Dog Show! There will be plenty for all ages to do, see, and enjoy.

What to expect

Foxash Dog Show

Enter your pooch into the Fun Day Dog Show!

There are 12 different classes you can enter such as Golden Oldie, Prettiest Princess and Best Local Dog!

Entries cost £2 a class with all proceeds going to St Helena Hospice.

Entry is free for all.

Car parking will be available for a £2 donation. If you can why not go green and walk to the event or use park and ride?

What is the Community Fun Day?
The Community Fun Day is an event designed to bring the community together for a day of fun, entertainment, and social activities.
When and where is the event taking place?
The event is scheduled for Saturday 1st August 2026 at Mile End Recreation Ground, Colchester CO4 5FS. Gates open at 11am.
How much does it cost to attend?
Admission is free. However, some activities or food vendors may have a cost.
Is there a rain date?
The event is scheduled to proceed as planned. However, please note that in case of adverse weather conditions, we may need to adjust or reschedule. We will keep you informed of any changes.
Activities and entertainment
What activities are available?
We offer a variety of activities including: face painting, bouncy castles, crafts, tombola and lots of fun stalls
 
Will there be food and beverages?
Yes, food trucks and vendors will be on-site offering a range of options.
Is alcohol allowed?
Nobody will be permitted to bring along their own alcohol into the event, there will be licenced bars on site selling alcohol.
Where can I park?
There is parking available on site for a small charge of £2 per car.

Is the event accessible for people with disabilities?
Yes, the event is designed to be accessible. We have designated disabled parking spaces and accessible restrooms.
Are pets allowed?
Well behaved pets on leads are welcome.
Are there toilets?
Yes, toilets including easy access and baby changing facilities will be available.
Will there be security at the event?
Yes, we will have security personnel on-site to ensure the safety of all attendees.
