The death of a family member or friend can be devastating and can bring about stronger emotions than you have previously experienced. Grieving is a part of bereavement, and it is unique and personal to you. It can be a stressful time, which you will cope with in your own way, and support from others might help.
For many people, talking to the people around them can help manage grief. However, some people may find they benefit from support from someone not closely involved in their life.
We offer bereavement counselling on a one-to-one basis, either in person, over the phone or by video link, based on your preference. Our goal is to support you as you navigate your grief, exploring your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviour, in a safe and confidential space.
To request a booking for a private (fee paying) bereavement session with our Forget Me Not counsellors, please fill out a short referral form by clicking the button below.
Our team will then be in touch to book you in for the next available appointment to suit you. If you have any questions, get in touch by calling 01206 848163 or emailing forgetmenot@sthelena.org.uk
Our private (fee paying) bereavement counselling is for adults over the age of 18 who are grieving the death of a loved one. Our trained counsellors are able to support bereavement of any kind, whether expected or unexpected, traumatic or complex. If we feel we are not best placed to support, we will signpost you to another service which can help.
We do suggest you wait until six weeks after your bereavement before we see you.
Forget Me Not is a private (fee paying) bereavement counselling service run by St Helena Hospice. All of the profits raised from this service are reinvested into running St Helena Hospice’s core services to the local community, providing end of life care to the people of north east Essex at home, over the phone through the 24/7 SinglePoint phoneline and at the Hospice.
Only 20% of St Helena’s income comes from the NHS. That means 80% of the income needed to run St Helena is raised through the local community and St Helena’s commercial and social enterprise ventures, including our private bereavement service, commercial cleaning business, arts and craft classes and home care business.
At St Helena we're supporting more people than ever before in our community, but our income is currently not enough to meet the needs of the people that we care for.
By using our expertise to provide a private (fee based) bereavement service, we can generate more income to help St Helena continue to provide its vital services to local people facing dying, death and bereavment, when and where they need it.
Forget Me Not is separate from St Helena’s charitable bereavement service which continues to be provided free of charge to adults and children facing bereavement.
Your donation, large or small, can make a big difference, giving more local people dignity and choice at the end of life.
Read stories DonateWhen you make a donation to St Helena Hospice, we are charged transactional fees by other companies, including fees for processing payments made to us, looking up addresses and validating bank account details.
We are very grateful to our donors who offer to offset some of these fees with a minor addition to their total amount. This is however completely optional and we are very grateful for your support whether or not you choose to contribute to processing fees.
CloseWe are able to claim an extra 25p on every £1 on your donation amount for no extra cost to you, as long as you are a UK tax payer; have paid enough income tax or capital gains tax in that tax year; and are donating your own money. If you pay less income tax and/or capital gains tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations in that tax year it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
