Find out more"I have always been a regular walker and I know that it helps with the cancer, which I have in my bones and all over the place. I just do what I can to keep healthy, so I walk twice a day whether I like it or not. I've got two friends who've decided to walk Pier to Pier with me.
"I just want to be able to do my bit because I am very pro the Hospice and I might need it myself. I thought, well, if I've got cancer, I might as well use it for some benefit.
"I'm a Christian so I'm not scared of where I'm going but, as our previous vicar once said, I don't mind dying, it's the way I'm going to die I don't like.
"I don't feel scared of actually dying, I feel sad, obviously, because I don't want to go, but that's the way it is. My brother was 32 when he died of cancer. I'm 69, I'm hoping to make 70 in October.
"There are lots of people I know who will support the Hospice and I used to run the ministry for the elderly at St John's Church and the people there are supporting me as well. Nearly everybody there has had someone that's had some involvement with the Hospice, even if not family, lots of people know someone who's been involved."
"The lovely lady that cooked used to come into the ward every day and say 'morning Julie, what flavour jelly would you like?'"

View more"It’s been nice to have something to focus on and aim towards, because when something like that happens and then the funeral ends, it's really strange."
View more"I was not aware that one of the main functions of the Hospice was to get patients back into their own environment with support."

We are very grateful to our donors who offer to offset some of these fees with a minor addition to their total amount. This is however completely optional and we are very grateful for your support whether or not you choose to contribute to processing fees.
