Supporters set to walk Pier to Pier

The popular Pier to Pier charity walk to raise funds for St Helena Hospice is returning to the north east Essex coastline on Sunday 17th May.

Participants choose to start at either Clacton Pier or Walton Pier and walk the 7 miles to the other, or go the whole distance and walk 14 miles back to where they started.

Many people walk on their own or in groups to remember their loved ones, while others take part simply to support the work of St Helena Hospice in their community.

Kayleigh Jowers, Senior Events and Challenges Officer, said:

“Come rain or shine, Pier to Pier has been a favourite event among supporters since it began 15 years ago, attracting hundreds of people from across Tendring District and Colchester.

“Pier to Pier, which is once again kindly sponsored by Pickering Group, is a fantastic event for the whole family, including well-behaved dogs. There is always a feeling of camaraderie as walkers pass by each other as they head in opposite directions to the piers at each end.

“Along the way, our determined walkers will spot motivational messages on boards sponsored by Parkers Garden Company, keeping everyone going as they walk 7 or 14 miles.”

The charity walk is open to all ages and the route is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Pre-registration closes on Wednesday 13th May 2025 at 11.59pm but participants can pay to take part on the day at the St Helena Hospice event registration desk located at both piers at £32 per adult and £5 per child.
