Plans were unveiled at a garden party in the Hospice grounds in July to guests including Colchester MP Pam Cox, local councillors, the High Sheriff of Essex, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, supporters, charities, community groups and businesses, hospice ambassadors, and one of our founders, Dr Elizabeth Hall.

The positive news revealed St Helena will focus on clinical excellence and sustainable growth of palliative and end of life services; growing the number of touchpoints in the community through innovation, care and support, day services and outreach; and growing a diverse income generation portfolio providing sustainable funding for its services.

The 2026-2029 strategy was co-produced with stakeholders across the north east Essex community as the Co-Chief Executives spent time listening to the views of patients and families, carers, colleagues, volunteers, system partners, donors and supporters, and the wider community in order to shape the priorities for St Helena.
