A winter outing

Rosie had a special Christmas present this year when Laura, specialist occupational therapist, and Nicola, specialist physiotherapist, took her out to see the sea with her dog and have a pina colada on the front.

The team arranged for a wheelchair and ramps and after much problem-solving, they managed to take her for a winter afternoon outing for the first time in long time.

Rosie said: “It is amazing. I've not had proper fresh air since May or June, so that's six months. I know the skies are grey, but it's like a summer day to me. It's beautiful and everyone has worked so hard to get me here as well. So just thank you to everyone who's done it for me. I have wanted it for so long and now I just can't believe it's happened. It's a bit chilly, but the adrenaline is keeping me warm!”

It was an emotional time for her family too. Her husband Tracy said: “It's just unbelievable, unbelievable. I'm totally overwhelmed. I never thought I'd see this day. It’s the best Christmas present ever.”
