Find out moreTim Clifton, Deputy Director for Digital and Information at St Helena, has been out running every day since 21st March 2020, and for the fourth anniversary since starting, he set himself the challenge of five running events over five weeks to fundraise for the charity, where he has worked for 18 years.
Starting the 5 in 5 on 17th March 2024, Tim ran Colchester Half Marathon’s 13.1 miles and since then completed Dave Wright's 15 Mile Road Race; ZigZag Easter Marathon of 26.2 miles; and last weekend’s London Landmarks Half Marathon at 13.1 miles.
On the days Tim doesn't have an event, he continues to run a minimum of 3.1 miles, and does not plan to stop. By 28th April he will have run 1,500 days consecutively. Tim said:
“The Zig Zag Easter Marathon took its toll on my feet with huge blisters, tearing and swelling. The last six miles was tough and the set of 5k runs the following week were not fun.
“Luckily my feet had healed enough to the point that I could enjoy London Landmarks Half last Sunday.
“One event to go on Sunday; Camuplodunum, a 27 mile trail marathon around Colchester. Thanks to all those who have sponsored me.
“I’m not just running miles; I’m running with purpose. I run for ever patient, every family and every moment of care St Helena Hospice provides.
“It sounds like a daunting challenge in my mind and hopefully worthy of some donations!”
