This year, the £40 challenge is extra special as St Helena Hospice is celebrating our 40th year of hospice care. Join the £40 challenge to honour the two generations of people who have been supported by St Helena and to ensure St Helena can continue being there for generations to come.

We've seen teams use their entrepreneurial skills to bring all sorts of exciting and innovative ideas to life and we can't wait to see what you come up with in 2025!

" We could call them anytime and they were brilliant every time. I said to Nick I’m going to phone SinglePoint because he can’t go on like this, he is in so much discomfort all the time. Of course when I phoned, they were brilliant because obviously I was too upset to explain what had happened"

All proceeds will be donated to St Helena Hospice to help local people face incurable illness and bereavement, supporting them, their families, friends and carers.

From our sponsor, Birkett Long Solicitors

"Birkett Long is incredibly proud to continue its long-standing partnership with St Helena Hospice, which began when the hospice was founded in 1985. Our involvement in the Birkett Long £50 Challenge started in 2012, and we are pleased to have supported it ever since. St Helena Hospice plays a vital role in our community - a community in which we live and work - and it is essential that businesses and individuals continue to support this cause. We are delighted to remain part of this important initiative and look forward to seeing the results in this 40th year."

"Several of the team have a personal connection with the hospice, either through loved ones using the in-patient service or receiving counselling support, or through friends and family members working for St Helena. We know first hand the amazing and invaluable care St Helena provides and wanted to do what we can to support fundraising."

£40 Challenge FAQs

Why is it called the £40 Challenge this year?
St Helena Hospice will be celebrating its 40th anniversary year in 2025 and to mark this special occasion we have made the corporate challenge this year £40 to commemorate 40 years of hospice care.
How do I sign up to this year's £40 Challenge?
Follow the link to our Enthuse registration page where we will take all the required details. Please remember to enter your corporate email and select ‘how you would like to hear from us’ so we can keep you updated on all things St Helena.
When is the launch date?
The launch date is Friday 23rd May and you will kickstart your 50 days of fundraising the following day. You will have until Saturday 12th July to turn your £40 into something amazing.
Will there be a breakfast launch like last year?
Yes of course, we will welcome all those registered to attend our ‘breakfast launch’ held at the Educational Centre within our hospice on Friday 23rd May. More details will follow within the email communication ahead of this date.
How do I start fundraising?

When signing up through Enthuse, you will be automatically set up with an ‘Enthuse Fundraising Page’. Here you can add your story behind the £40 challenge, your reason for supporting, share photos and update everyone about the amazing activities you will be undertaking.

This should be the only fundraising page used during the challenge as this allows all funds to be allocated correctly to your company and ensure that they are easily trackable. Please share this amongst your teams taking part.

What can I do to fundraise?

There are lots of ways to fundraise as part of the challenge. Over the years we have seen bake sales, raffles, quiz and curry nights, along with dress down days at work and more.

The list is endless, and you can be as creative or as ambitious as you like. We have some fundraising ideas on our website with an A to Z guide to assist you.

What if I have cash to pay onto my fundraising page?
We would recommend you pay this into your own personal or company account and make the donation directly to your Enthuse Fundraising Page via card.
Who is the main point of contact?

Ruth Jennings our Corporate Fundraiser will be main point of contact and her email is rjennings@sthelena.org.uk. Alternatively you can call our fundraising line on (01206) 931468.

How will St Helena help?

We are able to provide a wide range of materials from donation pots or buckets and balloons, to email footers and ideas to help you on your fundraising journey.

We will be sharing with all those taking part ‘what’s coming up’ so feel free to share dates and times of what you have planned so we can share these amongst our amazing companies to enlist their support.

How else can I help?

By taking part in this year’s £40 Challenge, you are making a huge difference in support of our patients and their families in north east Essex.

We hope you will share your participation in this event on your social media channels, within stores, amongst your teams and possibly also amongst your corporate contacts. Bringing along a business who has never taken part before would be great to increase our number of registered corporate supporters this year and help fundraise for St Helena Hospice.
