Gift Aid is a simple and easy way to make your donated items worth more!
When you donate items such as pre loved clothes, books, games, toys or no longer-needed furniture, we can claim an extra 25% on top of what we sell your items for when we sell them, providing you’re eligible to Gift Aid.
If you've not given consent yet, just ask a member of staff or volunteer the next time you drop off your donations and they will be able to sign you up. They will give you an orange Gift Aid card. Pop this in your wallet and every donation you drop off, remember to show it so we can claim those extra pennies. Those extra 5 minutes whilst dropping off your donations gives us so much value.
Last year, if all eligible donors had given consent to Gift Aid last year, we would have raised an extra £102,000! That amount could provide 3,400 hours of nursing care to seriously ill patients.
Watch the short video below to learn more about Gift Aid and how it helps us.
1. Sign up for Gift Aid by speaking to a staff member or volunteer during your next donation drop-off to receive an orange Gift Aid card for your wallet.
2. Whenever you donate items to a St Helena Hospice shop, present your orange Gift Aid card.
3. We’ll do the rest!
If St Helena Hospice received more donations that were eligible for Gift Aid, we could help even more local people facing incurable illness and bereavement by supporting them and their families, friends and carers across North East Essex. Every year we care for more than 4,100 local people facing incurable illness and bereavement. Last year, if all eligible donors had given consent to Gift Aid, we would have raised an extra £102,000. That amount could provide 3,400 hours of nursing care to seriously ill patients, and it doesn’t cost you a penny.
27% of funding for St Helena is from the NHS, with 73% of funds needed through donations just like yours, and by supporting us a little further if they are eligible for Gift Aid, makes a huge difference for St Helena’s future.
THANK YOU! Your orange card can make your donated goods worth an extra 25%, it really is as simple as that! Thank you for supporting St Helena Hospice with your donations. For more information about Gift Aid, and to find out whether you're eligible, visit the Government website.
Your donation, large or small, can make a big difference, giving more local people dignity and choice at the end of life.
Read stories DonateWhen you make a donation to St Helena Hospice, we are charged transactional fees by other companies, including fees for processing payments made to us, looking up addresses and validating bank account details.
We are very grateful to our donors who offer to offset some of these fees with a minor addition to their total amount. This is however completely optional and we are very grateful for your support whether or not you choose to contribute to processing fees.
CloseWe are able to claim an extra 25p on every £1 on your donation amount for no extra cost to you, as long as you are a UK tax payer; have paid enough income tax or capital gains tax in that tax year; and are donating your own money. If you pay less income tax and/or capital gains tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations in that tax year it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
