Brand new pre-loved furniture shop opens in Magdalen Street

Local charity, St Helena Hospice welcomed the first customers to their newest charity shop on Monday 14th February. The shop, located at 80 Magdalen Street in Colchester, specialises in pre-loved furniture and boasts a wide range of sofas, cabinets, drawers, beds and home furnishings.

All items available to buy have been donated to St Helena Hospice and proceeds from sales go towards helping local people facing incurable illness and bereavement.

Head of retail at St Helena Hospice, Ian Daniels, said “We’re thrilled to announce Magdalen Street Furniture is now open for business! The whole team were delighted to welcome in so many smiling faces on Monday. There are some real gems to be found in store so be sure to pop in and take a look.”

St Helena Hospice’s Magdalen Street Furniture, is open Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm and 10am – 4pm on Sunday.

The hospice relies heavily on volunteers for the day to day running of their charity shops and is currently recruiting for volunteer retail assistants at Magdalen Street Furniture. As a volunteer retail assistant, your responsibilities will include greeting and serving customers, operating the till, managing stock and keeping the shop floor tidy.
