Carolyn Doyle

Carolyn Doyle

I am a Registered Nurse with over 40 years of experience, having worked in education, community health, palliative care, and end-of-life care. Until December 2022, I served as the UK Professional Lead for Community and End of Life Care at the Royal College of Nursing. Before that, I was the Lead Nurse for Palliative and End of Life Care at Barts Health.

Currently, I work independently in various roles, including as an honorary lecturer at City University, an independent trainer, a funeral celebrant, a local district councillor, and a Soul Midwife/companion for the dying. I have a strong interest in advocacy, supporting individuals to achieve the end-of-life care they want.

I am also passionate about both local and national politics. My role as a local district councillor for the St Barts ward in Tendring is both challenging and rewarding, as I navigate the complexities of life and the impact our environment has on residents. I firmly believe in the concept of compassionate communities and feel that if we support one another with kindness and care, it positively affects our physical and mental health.

Additionally, I am a governor at a primary school serving one of the most deprived communities in the UK. In my leisure time, I share my life with my husband, Sonny, our three adult children, two grandchildren, and two energetic dogs in the Essex countryside.
