Find out moreThe 13.1 mile Half Marathon on Sunday 7th September starts from Lower Marine Parade/ Beach Road in Harwich and is set to see hundreds of people running a double looped course taking in the sights of old Harwich and the seafront, finishing at the end of the promenade at the West End Lane point.
It will be the charity’s first official UK athletics affiliated race and chip timed. The event is sponsored by Elms Price & Co, and director of its Wivenhoe branch, Jamie Lynch, will be running the race with his colleague Darryl Wright, marketing manager from the Colchester office.
Jamie, 49 from Harwich, said:
“Elms Price is proud to be sponsoring the event for the local charity. The staff at St Helena Hospice have a lot of commitment to the people they look after and the families are well supported too.
“I ran the London Marathon two years ago in memory of a friend’s dad who was cared for by the Hospice, and last year did London Landmarks and a few other half marathons to raise. It gives me something to aim for when I run for such a great charity.
“To anyone thinking about doing it, you’ve still got weeks to train so get on board!”
