Hospice patient meets legendary musician

St Helena Hospice made a dream come true for a patient as the team surprised her with a meet and greet with Jay Osmond, one of the legendary Osmonds.

Rosie Curtis is a life-long fan of the The Osmonds and the precious memory was made with help from West Cliff Theatre in Clacton, where Jay was set to perform his new musical story of The Osmonds that evening, Saturday 5th October.

Immediately after meeting the star, Rosie exclaimed:

“I’m very shocked and very happy. I feel like I’m going to bawl my eyes out! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much to St Helena and the West Cliff Theatre for organising this and making it happen.”

Jay spent time chatting with Rosie and presented her with a goodie bag of Osmonds keepsakes. The musician said:

“I loved meeting Rosie; she had such a happy spirit and her countess was so full of light!

“These are the kind of moments that I really enjoy. To be able to honour such a sweet person who has followed us over all the years brings me pure joy!”

Rosie is supported by the team from St Helena at her home in Clacton and has stayed at the Hospice both as an inpatient and for respite.

Tim Leeson, spirituality lead at St Helena Hospice, commented:

“At St Helena Hospice we know making memories is so important for loved ones and we are glad we could be part of Rosie’s fabulous experience with Jay. She is still buzzing from it now! Our heartfelt thanks go to Jay for making this happen for Rosie.”

Jay Osmond performed his musical evening in Clacton’s popular West Cliff Theatre as part of his tour. Rob Mitchell-Gears, Theatre Manager, helped organise the surprise and said:

"On behalf of everyone here at the West Cliff, I just wanted to thank Jay and the band and everyone involved in making the day so brilliant. As manager, it is such a joy to hear glowing reports about a show and especially about how brilliant Jay was. A true star and gentleman."
