Rotary Clubs raise £10k from 10k run for Hospice

Representatives from four local Rotary Clubs presented a cheque for £10,000 to St Helena Hospice, raised through the Colchester 10k run.

The popular event, which was organised by the four Rotary Clubs of Colchester, saw around 1,000 people running through Colchester city centre and surrounding areas on 11th May.

Mark Jarman-Howe, Chief executive of St Helena, said:

“Thank you to the four Rotary Clubs of Colchester for organising such a great event for the community and we are incredibly grateful to them for choosing to support St Helena in our 40th anniversary year.

“Demand for our care and support has never been higher but so are the costs. We need support from our community now as much as ever to help us to support local people who face incurable illness and bereavement.

“Our sincere thanks are extended to all the runners who raised vital funds through sponsorship by taking part, and to the many volunteers who supported the event.”

Trevor Sayer, President of the Rotary Club of Colchester, commented:

“We are delighted to support St Helena Hospice, a very important community resource in our local area.

“This project demonstrates the power of Rotary and what can be achieved with Clubs working together.

“A grateful thanks goes to our sponsors, supporters and of course the runners who made the event a great success.”

The Rotary Clubs of Colchester support St Helena Hospice through their fundraising activities throughout the year, including the annual Santa Sleigh collection.
