Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend

Get into the fundraising spirit this June and join us in celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee by hosting a fundraising event to help raise money for those facing incurable  illness and bereavement across north east Essex.

There are a wide range of events you can attend or create yourself to suit your skills and interests. Get together with your friends, family, colleagues and community to make a real difference and raise money for your local hospice.

Fundraising Ideas fit for a Queen!

  • Plan a garden party or street party – don’t forget your bunting!
  • Host a bake sale or coffee morning in your school, university, office or community centre.
  • Hold a royal themed quiz night – How well do you know British Royalty? Test your history knowledge! This could be with family and friends, neighbours or as a work team night out.
  • Host a pot-luck dinner party or a ‘Come Dine with Me’ dinner celebration and ask all attendees to contribute a donation.
  • Hold an afternoon or high-tea fit for a queen!
  • Make it a 70s themed fundraising event – you could complete a 70-minute walk or run, get your children active for 70 minutes and get sponsored for doing so. Or spend the night singing karaoke with 70s songs only, collecting donations for each song or participant!

  • Hold an arts and crafts event for your children, neighbours or community with a royal or 70 years theme and ask people for a donation to join in.
  • Hold a sponsored walk or challenge within your workplace.
  • Get sponsored to give up something for lent.
  • Organise a local raffle to raise money.

There are so many fun and inventive ways to fundraise in 2022! We have compiled an A-Z list with lots of innovative event and fundraising suggestions to help you get started. Remember, your event can be as big or small, as silly and fun or even as serious and competitive as you wish! 

Getting organised

Once you have your fundraising idea in place, we can send you our fundraising pack with all you need to know to get started or you can download our list of handy resources online to help you plan and promote your event. Soon you’ll be off to a flying start!

We also have a list of top tips to consider when planning your event, which are super helpful to keep in mind if this is your first fundraiser. There is also guidance on how to set up an online fundraising page which is particularly useful if you are looking to keep your event completely cash-free.

Time to promote

As soon as your event is planned and organised, it’s time to shout about it! Doing some event promotion is a really useful way to let others know about your fundraising efforts and encourage people to support you by coming along or giving a donation. We have customisable poster templates to help you market your event and don’t forget to share your efforts on your social media too! Please feel free to tag us @StHelenaHospice – we love to see and hear about what our supporters are up to! Make sure you get your friends, family and colleagues involved as well!

Paying in your fundraising

After all that hard work paying in the money raised  is super easy. You can pay it in online, send a cheque in the post, or book a slot to pop in and drop off your cash donations in person.

Top Tips for Planning a Fundraising Event

A key tip when planning a fundraiser is to focus on the 4 W’s – Who, What, When and Where.

WHO:

It’s important to understand your event target audience, have an idea of who you would like to attend and how many attendees you would like to host. Keep in mind anyone who can help you and utilise your key skills when planning and hosting your event.

WHAT:

When planning a fundraising event, it’s ideal to do something you enjoy or something that sets a challenge!! Think about what you will need to host the event - it might help to create a list to get organised. Think about how much time your event will take to run and whether you will need any support from the St Helena fundraising team. We are able to provide fundraising buckets, pots and balloons if this is required on the day. T-shirts can also be bought at a cost of £10 each if you would also like to wear one of these on the day.

WHEN:

Set a date to host your event and ensure you have enough time to plan, organise and promote your event. It may be helpful to consider the weather and the time of year you’re planning your event.

WHERE:

Ensure you are hosting your event at a place with a large enough capacity depending on how many people you are expecting to attend and that the right licenses are in place if required. Ensure the venue has enough parking spaces, disabled access points and toilets for the number of attendees you are expecting.
