Read stories DonateThe charity event, which was sponsored by Jones and Whymark, saw both novice and seasoned runners taking part dressed in fantastic costumes, including Marvel and Star Wars characters, running 10k, 5k or 1k through the historic park.
Each fun run was set off by Planet of the Apes characters from costuming organisation The UK Garrison, accompanied by Star Wars Stormtroopers and Batman.
Family and friends of Laurence 'Laf' Ward ran together wearing orange t-shirts in his memory:
Vicky Ward said: "We ran in orange in memory of Laurence; a daddy, a brother and a friend. He sadly lost his battle with cancer last June and spent his last week at St Helena. Running in his memory today was emotional but also brought us together as a group, doing something active and keeping his memory alive."
Laurence's sister Charlotte Day added: "The run also reminds us of the amazing work St Helena does. The Hospice made a horrific experience a bit more bearable by allowing us to stay with him. Laurence was able to spend his last days with those he loved and had such a peaceful passing."
Lisa Chenery, events and challenges fundraiser at St Helena Hospice, said: “It was amazing to see all the superheroes out to support St Helena Hospice. Everyone got in the spirit with some fantastic costumes.
“The money raised from this event will go towards helping patients and families receive the care and support they need, when they need it, where they need it. With rising food prices and increasing utility costs having a significant impact for St Helena, we are so grateful to all the superheroes who took part and to their friends and family who sponsored them.”
