Step on it to make a difference for local hospice

St Helena Hospice is challenging people to walk barefoot over thousands of Lego bricks or shards of broken glass, all in the name of raising money to support local people in need of hospice support.

Lego Walk is open to adults and children aged five and over and will see participants daring to make it across a path of little plastic bricks.

Glass Walk is for adults and children aged 11 and over to brave four metres of hundreds of shards of sterilised broken glass.

Both challenges will take place in the event village at JobServe Community Stadium ahead of St Helena Hospice’s Midnight Walk on the evening of Friday 27th September.

Marcus Poston, partnerships fundraising manager at St Helena Hospice, said:

“We’ve previously brought you a walk across fire, but now is the chance to step on it for St Helena Hospice by conquering a walk across sharp objects!

“Many of us have unexpectedly stepped on a piece of Lego, so why show those little bricks who’s boss and walk across thousands of them with confidence?

“Or focus your mind and bravely walk with us barefoot across broken shards of wine bottles – or even take on both challenges to raise even more money for St Helena Hospice!

“There will be lots of fun in the event village before the Midnight Walk itself gets going, so bring the family and enjoy the activities and food before waving off the night time walkers, or before you set off yourself on the four or nine mile route.”

The challenges are popular organised events by UK Firewalk and participants will undergo a health and safety briefing showing how it is possible to walk unharmed on broken glass or Lego. This ensures participants learn how to give 100% attention to the moment, following the advice and instruction of a trainer and spotters.

A discount is available for participants of the Glass or Lego walks who then take on the night time Midnight Walk too.
